1. NAME
The name of the club shall be The Boroughbridge Bowls Club
(Here-in-after called The Club)
“All matches shall be played in accordance with the laws of the sport
as approved by the E.B.A. The club and its members shall, as a
condition of affiliation to the E.B.A., at all times and in all respect
conform to and be bound by the Rules of the E.B.A.”
2. OBJECT
To promote and organise the game of Bowls in the area, without
prejudice to race, creed, colour or sex.
3. MEMBERSHIP
Membership of The Club shall be of four kinds
a. Fully playing membership for adults
b. Junior membership
c. Life
d. Associate membership
4. TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP
Any member not paying his or her subscription by the 1st June of any
given year, shall be deemed to have forfeited their membership and
rights to use The Club’s facilities
The Club shall reserve the right to withdraw membership after an
appeal, from any person who is considered by the Committee to have
brought either The Club or the game of Bowls into disrepute, or for
conduct prejudicial to good order in The Club
5. SUBSCRIPTIONS
All members shall pay such subscriptions as the A.G.M. shall
determine annually and which shall be due on the first playing day
of such season
6. THE COMMITTEE
Subject to the limitations set out in clause 7 hereof, the policy and
general management of The Club shall be directed by the Committee
which shall meet not less than four times a year. The Committee shall
consist of:-
a. The Officers as set out in Clause 7
b. Four Full members of The Club
c. Captain

In addition The Committee may co-opt up to two further members to
the Committee
All members of The Committee shall retire annually, but shall be
to be appointed or co-opted again
The Committee shall have the power to appoint such committees as it
may from time to time decide and may determine their powers and
terms of reference
7. OFFICERS
The Annual General Meeting shall elect Annually its Chairman,
Secretary and Treasurer, who shall be members of the Committee
8. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Once each year as soon as convenient after the annual Presentation dinner but before the end of the first week in december. The Committee shall convene an Annual
General Meeting of The Club, to which all members shall be entitled to attend for the purposes of receiving the Committee’s Annual Report and
the Annual Auditors Statements of Accounts; of appointing Office Officers , of electing members to The Committee, of making
Recommendations to the council and wherever necessary of voting on proposals to amend this Constitution in accordance with Clause
hereof
9. EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
The Chairman of the Committee or the Secretary, may, at any time at their discretion, and shall, within twenty one days of receiving a written request so to do signed by not less than one third of the FULL
members, and giving reasons for the request, call an Extraordinary
General meeting of The Club. All members shall be given at least
seven days notice of such a meeting. The Committee have the right to call an Extraordinary General Meeting at their discretion
10. RULES OF PROCEDURE AT ALL MEETINGS
a. VOTING
All questions arising at any meeting shall be decided by a simple
majority of those present. No member shall exercise more than one vote, but in the event of an equality of votes the Chairman shall have a second casting vote
b.QUORAM
Five of the members shall form a quoram at Committee meetings and
fifteen shall form a quoram at General meetings of The Club
11. STANDING ORDERS AND RULES FOR THE USE OF FACILITIES
The Committee shall have the power to adopt and issue Standing
Orders and/or Rules for the use of the facilities, such Standing Orders
and Rules shall come into operation immediately provided always that they shall be subject to review by The Annual General Meeting and
shall not be inconsistent with the provisions of this constitution
12. FINANCE
a. All monies raised by or on behalf of the Club shall be
applied to further the objects of The Club and for no other purpose
b.The Treasurer shall keep proper accounts of the finance of The
Club
c.Cheques shall be signed by two Officers of The Club
13. DISSOLUTION
In the event of the demise or dissolution of The Club, all monies
equipment and chattels to be kept in trust for seven years after all
debts and liabilities have been satisfied
14. ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION
Any proposal to alter this Constitution must be delivered in writing to
the Secretary of The Club not less than twenty eight days before the date of the meeting at which it is to be first considered. An alteration will require the approval of a simple majority at either an Annual or
Extraordinary General Meeting.
